Fun movie that you should not take too serious. Hunter Carson is great.

Je suis le seigneur du château (1989)

Watched the 2023 restoration on Blu-ray. Quality was superb - highly recommended.

The performance of the two boys is outstanding. The film is very intense and also quite sad and disturbing. It stays with you after finishing.

Edit: They should not have moved the setting to France. The original British setting would have made more sense.

A must watch because of Roman Griffin Davis. He is a delight to watch. I didn't like the Elsa character either, but you can mostly ignore her.
