Leave It to Beaver (1957-1963)

Conservative middle class values. 1950s America was surely never as simple or as easy as they would have us believe. the series still has a certain charm and rates highly in the nostalgia ranks.

The Legend of Zorro (2005)

Lighthearted, crowd pleasing, action fun that is pleasant enough to watch. Adrian Alonso did a good job as Zorro's young son. The movie is a big budget affair and looks it but there is little in the way of genuine tension or drama.

Little House on the Prairie (1974-1983)

Long running series had quite a few episodes that featured guest boy actors, sometimes in prominant roles. The series had it's greatest appeal when Matthew Laborteaux became a regular cast member from 1978.

Little Man Tate (1991)

I've watched this over rated movie about three times and like it less with each viewing. The characters are generally annoying and the plot is too contrived to be interesting.

Lizzie McGuire (2001-2003)

Not great TV but watchable. Jake Thomas is terrific and makes up for the often lame script.

Long Time Gone (1986)

This looks like a pilot for a TV series that never was... a great pity because Wil was at his cutest.

Lord Jeff (1938)

'Boys Town' style formula film. Predictable and somewhat self righteous. Worth watching though for the delightful Terry Kilburn who displays one of the most captivating smiles I've ever seen. Pretty routine stuff for Freddie, acting-wise, as he was an old pro by this stage. Watch for an hilariously badly shot scene inside the fakest looking bus ever.

Louisiana Story (1948)

Very impressive black and white cinematography. The documentary style aspects are the most interesting elements but the acting and dialogue is amateurish and the story is thin.
