Vor (1997)
I'm always worried with subtitled films that I won't be able to follow the storyline well enough while taking in the atmosphere of the film at the same time. That certainly wasn't the case with this movie though - I think "captivating" is an appropriate word. Fantastic movie, if tragic.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Walkabout (1971)
A beautiful film. Roeg mixes film and sound effects with the wonderful scenery of the Australian outback to create a truly stunning visual feast.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10About a Boy (2002)
A good adaptation of Nick Hornby's novel. It doesn't stick rigidly to the book, which in many ways is a good thing - I enjoyed the novel, and I don't think it would sit too well if the film was just a duplicate.
I'm not a big Hugh Grant fan, and to my mind, his performance wasn't a million miles away from his character in Four Weddings & A Funeral.
That was about my only gripe though - Nicholas Hoult was a wonderfully weird Marcus, and Toni Collette was pretty good as well.

My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Birth (2004)
Very slow paced film, but that's no bad thing - I really like the long, relatively static scenes that allow you time to absorb the film. A lot is left for interpretation as well.
I hope Cameron Bright continues to get good roles like this - his performance was superb.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Blank Check (1994)
Fantastic Disney comedy. It has all the ingredients of a moralistic family comedy, but for the most part manages to stay on the right side of "tweeness". Brian Bonsall is a major plus as well - it's a great pity he didn't have more roles like this one.

Very touching and at times heartbreaking movie.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Close and True (2000)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10A Cool, Dry Place (1998)
Fantastic performance by Bobby Moat, and a good movie. Having read the novel, I found myself distracted by the differences, and I was surprised by some of the director's choices vis a vis the storyline. Nonetheless, it was a good movie though.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Critters (1986)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10D.A.R.Y.L. (1985)
Good concept, good film, cool performance by Barret Oliver.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Dick Tracy (1990)
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Dunston Checks In (1996)
Very watchable family comedy - Eric Lloyd makes up for any cheesiness in the plot.
