Synopsis
Landscape in the Mist concentrates on a pair of runaway children. The kids are en route to Germany, where they believe their father is living. The adventures during their trek range from heartwarming (the kids are briefly "adopted" by a group of itinerant actors and by an affable cyclist) to harrowing (the girl is raped by a callous truck driver). The film's title refers to the kids' perception of the "promised land" of Germany.

9 / 10 7 / 10 The third in Theo Angelopoulos' 'Trilogy of Silence', the first two being Voyage to Cythera and The Beekeeper: beautiful films but also undeniably slow, strange, full of dreamy symbolism, and perhaps a touch pretentious. His films on Greek history are interesting pieces with a devoted following but nothing like Costa-Gavras' masterpiece Z. In short, not for everybody.
