A mostly faithful adaptation of the beloved novel, Hideaways is a 70s film through-and-through, with cheesy bumper music and B-roll of a New York whose grit was starting to show through the glitz and glamor. Redhead J. Doran puts in a satisfactory if not revelatory performance as Jamie. Ingrid Bergman steals the show with a campy performance as Mrs. Frankweiler.
