Pretty good semi-autobiographical movie in which Maggie Smith and Judi Dench act alongside one another as they would later in the excellent Ladies in Lavender. This movie was a favourite of Koko, the zoo gorilla who was taught to use some signs modified from American Sign Language and who adopted a kitten as a pet.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Much better than I thought it would be. Charlie Lucas was a little charmer.
The movie runs close to 2 hours and YA's Law still holds: Any film that runs 2 hours or more sags badly in spots and can be edited down by 20 minutes and be improved thereby.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10To my nice surprise I checked my DVR and this wonderful movie was in it, I had set an Auto-record for it a few months ago!
Charlie handled his part quite well, a very adorable boy!
I gave the movie an 8/10, because I like Charlie! I would have given it a higher rating if Charlie had had more screen time. I do like stories that are based on fact, especially the part of the story where Luca was taken in by those British Ladies, then I think that was the best part of the story! I thought Cher Looked really good for someone nearing her 60's! and for Lilly Tomlin, no matter what roll she plays, she, at least for me, always manages to put a little comic releaf in somewhere! I didn't catch the actor's name of teenage Luca, but I thought he also did very well, and was quite handsome!
