Synopsis
Mary was relatively well off, until her husband died in the middle of the Great Depression. Now she finds herself with four kids and quickly diminishing resources. She sends the three eldest children to stay with a wealthy aunt, but the youngest boy, Bill, remains with her. Mother and son try to make a go of it amidst the gossip and censure of the townsfolk. Fortunately, Bill befriends a rich elderly woman who desperately needs companionship.

This is another great Dickie Moore masterpiece. I have rated it so highly but then that's where I have most of the movies he stars in. It's worth watching several times over, which I have done courtesy of TCM.
