Synopsis
When a young London sweep named Barnacle (Courtney Roper-Knight) falls down the wrong chimney, he lands in a sooty heap right in the middle of a monstrous conspiracy. Panic-stricken, he scarpers, and finds refuge with the kind Mr. Gosling. But the conspirators, anxious that the boy overheard their earlier conversation, resolve that he must be killed, and it is not long before Barnacle finds himself caught in a web of espionage, treachery, and murder.
Notes
- The script for this miniseries was written by the novelist Leon Garfield (1921-1996), who subsequently used the script as the basis for his 1986 novel of the same name.
- An edited version of this miniseries was released on VHS in 1989. To date, the production has not had an official release on any other format. The complete miniseries can be viewed on YouTube - a link to the first episode is provided below.
- The producer, Paul Stone, and director, Renny Rye, of this miniseries were also the producer and director respectively of the highly acclaimed UK miniseries The Box of Delights (1984).
