Synopsis
Brazil in 1920. After the death of his mother, young Carlinhos (S?vio Rolim) is sent to the Santa Rosa sugar plantation to be raised by his grandfather and his uncles. There, as well as living through economic and social transformations, he experiences contradictory influences from his family. In the company of his aunt his behaviour is "good"; but living with his cousins, he becomes extroverted, precocious and libertine. Eventually his relatives decide to "set him straight" by sending him off to school.
