Synopsis
During the Great Depression in Northern Ontario, recently-widowed mother Honey Bailey is forced to leave her children - Hubert (Dylan Provencher), Henry (Tyrone Savage), and Violet - with her domineering mother-in-law May, whilst she searches for work. The series follows Honey, her children, their extended family, and their friends, as they attempt to survive and thrive during the 1930s.
Notes
- Loosely based on the novels "Never Sleep Three in a Bed" (published 1969) and "The Night We Stole the Mountie's Car" (1971), by Canadian novelist Max Braithwaite (1911-1995)
- This series ran for five seasons, each comprising 13 episodes. Following the unexpected cancellation of the series at the end of Season 5, the cast reprised their roles in "A Wind at My Back Christmas" (2001), which was a TV movie produced to tie up some of the loose ends left by the series' cancellation.
