Synopsis
In 1941, two Jewish brothers in Nazi-occupied France, survive through a mind-boggling mix of mischievousness, courage and ingenuity, whilst seeking to flee to Vichy France where their older brothers have found a relatively safe haven.

- Based on the 1973 autobiographical novel of the same name by French-Jewish writer Joseph Joffo (b. 1931)
- This is the second film adaptation of Joffo's novel, the first also being entitled Un sac de billes (1975).

An excellent film with a great portrayal of the boys trying to survive the Nazi persecution of the Jews. The family felt that by splitting up will make their escape much easier, but it appears it made it more difficult.
