Living with the Dead (2002)

An excellent movie, hardly a cliche' in sight, with many heart-tugging moments. The resolution at the end of the crime/supernatural drama is satisfying and not at all what you expect.

The Lost Boys (1978)

This is excellent, one of the best series ever from BBC. All the boy actors shine and Ian Holm gives a crusty, vivid portrayal of J.M. Barrie.

The actress Ann Bell bears an uncanny resemblance to the real-life Sylvia Llewelyn Davies.

Violent movie but great fun. 'Humongus' is hilarious!

La Mala educación (2004)

Great plot manipulation. I detected 3 layers of storytelling but I think I missed one or two. The boys are just beautiful.

Marcelino pan y vino (1955)

This is simply a sweet tearjerker of a movie, nothing more, and it never pretends to be anything else. Nicely done with restraint in most of the right places, terrific photography, and a beautiful and disarmingly natural acting boy.

The English voice dubbed for Pablito is terrible. Definitely go with the Spanish soundtrack and English subs.

Martian Child (2007)

What's not to like? Maybe a formula flavor which the clever screenplay makes up for. Bobby Coleman is an adorable little Martian.

Nicely done and very well acted, but sad. Roderic Noble was a fine looking and gifted young actor.

Nimmermeer (2006)

A group of talented young filmmakers have 'borrowed' characters and situations from Pelle The Conqueror and Fanny & Alexander to create a stunning and haunting thing of their own. This short movie is exquisitely photographed and loaded with arresting images. Leonard Proxauf is extremely appealing.

Noordzee, Texas (2011)

This is a wonderful story of love between teenage boys and I wish so much emphasis (and film time) had not been placed on Pim's mother and her boyfriend. Neither of them are a visual delight by any standard and fewer visuals of them would have improved everything.

The scenes between the two handsome boys are very powerfully moving. They made me wish I could revert to the age of 10 and start over!
