Lucas Black, whom I liked, was quiet in most scenes, but Christopher Fennell was my favorite in this movie. He was great in his mischievous ways.

What a movie! It has everything. It's a story of child adventures, of father-son relationship, of people in the South in the 70s, of war and anti-war sentiments, of dreams and ambitions, of despair and disillusion. The soundtrack is marvellous (CCR, Cat Stevens), and Elijah Wood... Well, he's the only male actor I'd really call handsome. His eyes are so expressive, his acting is so natural and mature, his handling of emotional and exposing scenes is perfect... He is one of the best child actors, maybe second to Haley Joel Osment in overall all time performances. Kevin Costner and Mare Winningham are awesome. The setting (Mississippi, 1970s) is great and wonderfully put up. This movie is about the American Dream, about love and hope, about... so much. Just get it and watch it.
