10 / 10 I have always liked this movie. It still holds up well after all these years. How can you not like Brad Renfro? What a tragic end to a great actor.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10 If you like cute boys and dark thrillers, then this movie is for you! I've seen several movies where McKellen's part had something to do with either Nazism or the Jewish holocaust, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he is a holocaust survivor himself, in one of the X-Men movies he shows a tattooed number on his Forearm, which could have been a real tattoo!
I give this movie a 9/10 because I thought both Ian and Brad did well.

9 / 10 A great film from the pen of horror writer-in-chief, Stephen King. The acting laurels are equally shared by Ian McKellen and the wonderful late Brad Renfro. As I remember, the story had both characters bumping off a lot more winos and dossers than in the film! Of course, had I been Kurt Dussander, I would've been certainly telling Todd stories other than about the holocaust ... ;) With Ian McKellen being Gay I often wonder if that might just have been the case off set! I always thought Dussander was slow in not getting his own back when Todd made him dress up in a SS officer's uniform. Next time Todd came round he should've had a parcel for him to open containing a Hitler Youth uniform complete with tight black shorts in which Brad Renfro would've looked outstanding!
I thought the two actors acted off each other very well and made their characters all the more sinister in their own ways.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10 6 / 10 6 / 10 7 / 10 Wow, what a dark movie! The setting and the atmosphere is wonderfully staged. The interaction between Brad Renfro and Ian McKellen is perfidious, the way they control and manipulate each other is shrewd. It's not so much the visual horror, but the psychological terror that infiltrates their minds. The clinical calculating and the subtle viciousness of both main characters make this movie sinister. Thus the acting to attain this effect has to be very good, what it is indeed. Well thought-through, nice cast, straight acting.
