For obvious reasons this is a much better film than the American version.

Also see Witchhammer and A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.

Superb film!

I've seen both, I like them both equally!

This is one of those movies that would be great even if it wasn't a boy movie! Kare Hedebrant is outstanding as Oskar a role he plays with innocence and charm but still able to put on the character's aggressive side when he wants. The opening scenes in the bedroom where Oskar wanders around in his undies testifies to the Swedish broadmindedness. The scene at the end in the swimming pool is really horrific. What a waste of two nice Swedish boys! I guess you wonder if Oskar is destined to become another run around for Eli, the vampire. I hope not.
My Movie Rating:

This film is beautiful in so many ways. First there's Kare. We get a pretty revealing shot of him in the first scene :), he is cute and he holds down his acting responsibilities like a champ. Then, there's the actual movie. Nobody thinks it's good solely due to its Swedishness, sorry. The cinematography is stunning, especially in those quiet shots we get of the beautiful/snowy Nordic setting. The story is smoothly told - although the dialog is relatively minimal, a lot is said. The ending is unpredictable and profound. From my perspective, the acting is rock solid, though I don't speak the language so I can't really assess it thoroughly. The score is great and reflects the mood of the scenes well. The only negative here is the clumsy, unnecessary side plot with the blonde lady getting "infected." In all, though, there are few better movies out there. Check the reviews if you don't believe me. It's in my top 3, easily. Watch it!
