With the presence of Ryan Wilson playing Jesse Tilson I suppose we can rate this a boy film. The story of a family moving into gloomy mansion has been done before though, this time, without the obligatory ghosts. The menace is in the previous owner, Dale Massie, and the locals who seem to be in fear of him for some unexplained reason. The shocks become obvious in the end which dilutes the story's horror effect. Ryan Wilson is good in his part and gets a fair amount of screen time.

Worth watching to see Ryan Wilson, a personable cutie. I was waiting for a surprising plot twist right to the end, given the quality of talent involved in the film. Nope. I haven't been exposed to a story more lame and predictable since the matinee serials I saw as a kid. Could this really be the same director who did 'The Browning Version?"

I expected a lot and liked the beginning of the movie, yet the ending was so predictable that my overall impression decayed. Ryan Wilson was one of the reasons why I watched it. He did a good job, but I expected a bit more of him as well. Standard thriller with a good premise that was never fulfilled. Real pity.
