Io non ho paura (2002)

Wonderful Italian movie. Both boys are hand-picked and do a splendid job. The images of the Italian countryside and the music make this movie outstanding. The story is full of suspense and thrilling sequences. The emotional burden of the plot is handled convincingly by the protagonists. Just to recommend, great movie.

It (1990)

Okay, the movie is not a masterpiece. Still, it was the first movie that touched something very deep inside of me and the first movie ever that put tears into my eyes. I was 14 when I saw it for the first time, and yeah, it somehow changed my life. It really did. Watching it today, seven years later, makes me aware of how different you watch movies when years go by. I still take this one under my wings, as it has had such an enormous emotional impact on me personally. I wish I had had such friends when I was a kid. Thanks again, Stephen King.

Jack (1996)

This movie has something very important: a message of life. This is due to the underlying themes as well as to Robin Williams' touching performance which is saddening and inspirational at the same time. He is able to transform the sheer hopelessness of his fate which subjects him to an early death with such outstanding and sincere skills that are deeply moving. Apart from that his entire character - as it is designed - demands substantial acting throughout the whole plot. He delivers a performance that many other actors would simply not have been able to accomplish. It takes a special kind of actor to portray such a character just as Jack here.

The message is that despite a fate that destines us to be exposed to tremendous agonies and blank despair, there is always a light of hope, and this light burns in our hearts. It's up to us only what we do with the time that we're granted with. In Jack's case time is even more precious than for normal people. Despite the sadness and despair that is ultimately caused thereby, we still have the chance to make the best out of every minute. All we have to do is value the little things, such as friendship and love, and thus escape the shades of darkness.

The movie itself is funny and sincere, it has important dialogues and, as stated above, a real massage, which makes it special. Watch out for it.

Jack Frost (1998)

All right, a walking-talking snowman was a bit too much for me to give this otherwise exceptional movie a higher rating. Father-son moments kill me emotionally if scripted and acted properly, and this one started out very promising indeed. Joseph Cross is very appealing as well, has lots of screen time and some emotional scenes (what always levels up the quality of a movie for me). The dialogs are brilliant, the story has a fine message, but again - the snowman was a bit too much. So - a solid 8 due to joseph and the themes.

Jerry Maguire (1996)

I watched this one a few years ago, but it didn't really appeal to me too much. It has some nice background messages, and Tom Cruise also gave a solid performance, but I never thought of it as something special.
