A curious mishmash: stereotyping of Italians slapped on ludicrously thick, interventions from a pet seal named Julius -- the animal actor is credited as 'Slicker, the seal' --, a nice scene where Bobby Breen sings with a proper robed boys' choir for once, several fine renditions of popular songs in Italian, and lots of scenes where secondary-child-roles veteran Tommy Bupp exercises his talent for playing smug and supercilious boys.

A real vintage movie and it shows on the DVD I have! Bobby Breen, while not a particularly good looking boy being upstaged by the better looking Tommy Bupp in that department, sings beautifully however. His rendering of 'Ave Maria' is specially notable. The relationship between him and his spoiled brat of a cousin (Bupp) is well handled by the director. This is pure nostalgia, with hammy Italian acting and poor orphan boy makes good. Can't beat it.
