Billy had a lot of acting experience by the time he was in this classic! I thought he did very well! Actor Michael Rennie was relatively unknown by American Audiences, That's why he was chosen to play Klaatu, back in the days of Technicolor, Directors would often choose Black and White film to make a movie, because with it, the Audiences focused more on the characters than the scenery! in the scene where Gort carries Patricia Neal to the spaceship, she had to be rigged with a Crane to help the stunt actor in the suit carry her, he couldn't lift her by himself!

I like this movie much better than the remake! I like Jaden Smith and Keanu Reeves, they both did well, but when I compare one movie to the other, the remake doesn't hold a candle!

Low marks from me. Not just because Bobby plays such an insignificant role. And not because I wanted to compensate for the ratings of earlier reviewers that (in my view) were way too high. Certainly, this is a very early SF-film and it deserves credit, but that does not alter the fact that on a site like BoyActors, it just doesn't add anything at all.
