Synopsis
Gabriele Rossetti returns to his hometown in Puglia in southern Italy after many years away, to see his dying father Ernesto one last time. Seeing him again leads him to recall his boyhood - his beautiful mother and fun-seeking uncle, his friends, his loving father; but also his father's irascibility and exasperation over his thwarted attempts to realise his artistic ambitions. Ernesto was convinced he was destined to become a famous painter and was willing to sacrifice everything for his belief in his own talent.
