Synopsis
Travelling back to the place where he spent the summer of 1900 as a lad of thirteen, the elderly Leo recalls how he was persuaded to carry secret messages between a local tenant farmer and the older sister of his school friend Marcus, and was caught up in a sequence of events that he barely comprehended, and could not control.

- This is the second of two screen adaptations of the novel, the other being the theatrical movie The Go-Between (1971).
