Synopsis
Clark Griswold decides to take his wife Ellen and his two kids, Rusty and Audrey, on a cross-country drive from the Chicago suburbs to the southern California amusement park of Walley World. However, the trip proves far more arduous than the paterfamilias ever anticipated.
Notes
- Adapted by American filmmaker John Hughes (1950-2009) from his own short story "Vacation '58", which was first published in the American humor magazine "National Lampoon" in September 1979.
- The film's success led to four sequels: "National Lampoon's European Vacation" (1985), "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" (1989), "Vegas Vacation" (1997), and "Vacation" (2015).
- In 2000, readers of British film magazine 'Total Film' voted "National Lampoon's Vacation" the 46th greatest comedy film of all time.
