Synopsis
On holiday at her uncle's farm in New Zealand, Gretchen befriends Ronny, a Maori boy with a troubled city past, and Bevis, the birdwatching son of a loathed developer. Tension is already high as the developer wants to buy and drain a local swamp for a housing estate; but Ronny's uncle is the guardian of a traditional Maori 'tapu' on the swamp. The swamp must not be touched, for something sleeps there that must not be awakened - something unnatural. Gradually, the children discover the pieces of an ancient alien space probe; and as they assemble the missing parts strange things begin to happen...
Notes
- Comprising 6 episodes of approximately 24 minutes each.
- The main idea of the plot of this miniseries was lifted from "The Sirius Mystery" (1976), a work of pseudoarchaeology written by Robert K. G. Temple (b. 1945).

Great little series with a simple enough but layered and compelling plot. Its biggest strength is how well-drawn the characters are. Very creditable performances by the young amateur actors. Also see the 1981 series Under the Mountain.
