When little Palle wakes up to find himself completely alone in Copenhagen he does what any rightly constituted five-year-old boy would do in his position: drives a fire engine, steers a tram, helps himself to sweets in the sweet shop, and pilots an airplane to the moon...
Notes
- Based on the 1942 book of the same name by Danish author and psychologist Jens Sigsgaard (1910-1991), the book was inspired by interviews Sigsgaard made with children about what they wanted most in the world (to have everything) and what they were most afraid of in the world (that they would be completely alone).
- Lars Henning-Jensen was the son of the film's director, Astrid Henning-Jensen.
- This film won the award for 'Best Subject - Short Film' at the 1949 Cannes Film Festival.
