Synopsis

A tight-knit group of German working class kids from a Berlin apartment building (number 67) in the early 1930s have various adventures, but the rise of Nazism sees the group unravel.

Notes

The subtitle of this movie - "Heil Hitler, ich h?tt gern 'n paar Pferde?ppel" - means "Heil Hitler, and two bits of horse-shit, please".
Based on the nine-volume series of stories (collectively titled "Erlebnisse und Abenteuer der Kinder aus Nr. 67. Odyssee einer Jugend", and published 1933-1949) by Swiss authoress Lisa Tetzner (1894-1963). Tetzner was born in Germany, but fled to Switzerland with her Jewish-Communist husband in 1933 to escape the Nazis. Her famous nine-volume cycle is also known as the "Kinderodyssee" ("Children's Odyssey"), and at around 1,600 pages it is one of the most extensive - and, according to many, one of the most important - works of German-language exile literature.
