Synopsis
When a junkman who does business with the Dead End Kids is badly wounded by Spike (Leo Gorcey) in a fight, the boys refuse to divulge which one of them was responsible, and so a judge sentences them all to reform school, where they suffer cruel treatment at the hands of a regime headed by a corrupt warden called Morgan. When superintendent Mark Braden (Humphrey Bogart) visits the school and realises what is happening, he fires Morgan and takes charge of the school himself in an effort to turn things around - even succeeding eventually in winning over the trust of the boys. But one of the guards who has been kept on is afraid that Braden will learn of Morgan's embezzlement of the food budget, which would implicate him as well, and so he formulates a plan to discredit Braden in order to have him fired and get Morgan reinstated. However, in order to carry out his plan, he needs to turn the boys against Braden. Will Braden be able to retain the boys' trust?

Probably my favourite of the Dead End Kids movies (though they're all excellent!).
