Synopsis
After the kidnapping of his son Andy, wealthy business executive Dave Stannard prepares to cave in to the demand for a ransom of half a million dollars. A reporter and the police chief, however, both tell him the same thing: whether he pays the ransom or not, he is unlikely to see his son alive again.

- Based on a popular episode of The United States Steel Hour titled "Fearful Decision", which aired in 1954
- A loosely based remake starring Mel Gibson was made in 1996 by director Ron Howard. Its title was "Ransom" (i.e. the same title minus the exclamation mark).
