Synopsis
Eight-year-old Peyangki's widowed mother is unable to afford to enroll him in school, so she sends him to the local monastery instead. He quickly has to adapt to life away from home, with only a single fellow student and the Lama for company. But big changes are on the horizon: a decade after their ruler opened up Bhutan to television and the internet, Peyangki's tiny village is finally getting electricity. When his first television falls off his horse during transit, Peyangki's uncle decides to return to the capital for another set, and invites Peyangki along for the three-day journey. Very interesting but perhaps has too much of an agenda for a documentary made by an outsider. The Next Guardian is better.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10
