Based on a true story from the director's own life. Like Der Kreis, Nighthawks and A Very Natural Thing, it's a snapshot of homosexual life at a particular point in the twentieth century, and like Un chant d'amour and We Were One Man, it's a very original gay-themed film, a one-off.
