Synopsis
The story of Akira, a 10-year-old boy growing up in rural Japan. When the circus announces its arrival in town, Akira and his classmates are overjoyed. Among the show's many wonders, 'Wolf Girl'?reputed to have been raised by wolves and to devour live frogs and snakes?is a particular intrigue. At school, dishevelled loner Hideko, thought to be the Wolf Girl, is taunted incessantly until sweet-natured newcomer Rumiko puts an end to it. Akira is captivated by Rumiko, who will only befriend him if he becomes friends with Hideko. Together the trio deal with bullying, prejudicial misconceptions, and young love.
