Synopsis
Times and Winds is an intriguingly beautiful visit to the remote north-western part of Turkey. The film paints a poetic portrait of life in a country village seen through the eyes of two boys and a girl on the verge of adolescence. Nature and changing seasons play a decisive role in their lives. When they are not at school or at home being told off by their parents, the three children meet in the hills, where they talk about life and observe nature. Omer fantasizes about running away from his strict father, who is an Imam, while Yakup is more interested in their beautiful teacher. Yildiz is a surrogate mother for her smaller brother but is tormented by having seen her parents have sex....

8 / 10 Some nice imagery, but the slow pace was stupefying. This film takes itself very seriously, and that alone is enough to impress festival voters.
