Synopsis
Summer in Paris suburbs. The last glorious summer before a war. There, on the hills, amongst virgin woods stands a castle whose aristocratic owner is now impoverished. He tries to save his family estate from being totally ruined and turned into a sanatorium for tuberculosis victims by renting out part of his huge, empty manor to tenants from the capital who have come to enjoy their vacation here. Though it would seem to be the easiest solution, fate so decrees that things sad and strange start to happen. Passion, love, and jealousy find their way into the quiet lives of the manor's inhabitants.
