Synopsis
With his academic father largely absent from their suburban home -- both physically and emotionally - 12 year old Julien compensates with an easy, close relationship with his mother, who relates to the boy more as a friend than as an authority figure. Sweet-faced Julien begins to take up interests, including a girlfriend, outside his mother's sphere. Julien's natural first steps in leaving the nest shock his emotionally fragile and lonely mother, causing her to react in a violent, compulsive way towards her son.
