My Brother Talks to Horses
(1947)
Country: USA
Synopsis
Set in Baltimore at the turn of the century. The story revolves around yong Lewie who discovers he can talk to horses. His father has passed away so Mother takes in boarders whilst the elder son, John (Peter Lawford) works at the bank. Events take a bad turn when Lewie's best friend, a horse, dies and then John loses his job. The only option seems to be placing a successful bet on the horse races but even that seems very risky when Lewie loses his ability to talk with the horses.

If you don't expect a lot from this movie and don't question some of the logic it is a enjoyable little yarn. The charming, befreckled, Butch Jenkins gets plenty of screen time and is always interesting to watch. Set in the days when kids and dogs were free to roam the streets.
