Synopsis
A young boy named Nan-na lives with his grandmother in a small seaside village. When he is four, his mother suddenly appears at his house leaving his sister Ohgi. Grandmother's affections are immediately transferred to the little girl and Nan-na is jealous. Resentful, he begins to treat Ohgi unfairly and when she later develops a humpback from her childhood malnutrition, he shuns her. When Ohgi is sent away to work elsewhere, Nan-na is first pleased by her absence, but he begins to miss her. He also wonders about his mother, who he finds in Seoul living in prosperity. Nan-na's sharply mixed feelings about his mother are only heightened when he begins to discover that his genealogy isn't quite as simple as he was led to believe.
