Lies My Father Told Me
(1975)
Country: Canada
Genre: Drama
Synopsis
David is a young Jewish boy growing up in 1920s Montreal. He is frightened of his father's sudden rages and prefers the company of his grandfather who tells stories based on his own variation of the 'truth'. This movie isn't really about lies, but about truths that David and his grandfather refuse to accept. David's father is full of unfulfilled money making ideas and is embarrassed by the grandfather's old-fashioned ways, and humiliated by the fact that the family still keeps a horse in the age of automobiles.
