Synopsis
Young Danny is a big fan of Jack Slater, a larger-than-life action hero played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. When his best friend, Nick the projectionist, gives him a magic ticket to the new Jack Slater film, Danny is transported into Slater's world. One of Slater's enemies, Benedict the hitman, gets hold of the ticket and ends up in Danny's world, where he realises that if he can kill Schwarzenegger, Slater will be no more.

9 / 10 7 / 10 8 / 10 Although Austin O'Brien isn't the most commonly seen of boy actors, he does excel in 'Last Action Hero'. The whole fantasy set up is marvellously done with lots of cinematic tricks making this picture a gem and an unusual one at that. Schwarzenegger and O'Brien are ably supported by British smoothie, Charles Dance and even a cameo performance from Ian McKellen. Even the way all American films telephone numbers begin with 555 is made a joke. The action and the growing relationship between the fictional hero and the boy are well managed by the director.
A must for any boy film collector's shelf.
