Synopsis

12 year old Hristos lives with his mother on a small Greek island. Having showed a rare talent early on for the violin, he is encouraged and fostered by his friend and mentor, the old lighthouse keeper, who teaches him the instrument. Teased at school because he can't read very well, he suffers from a rare eye disease and is losing his sight. With the arrival of a new teacher on the island, Maria, Hristos's fortunes change as she recognises his talent.
