Synopsis
Socially inept garbage man Simon is befriended by Henry Fool, a witty roguish, but talent-less novelist. Henry opens a magical world of literature to Simon who turns his hand to writing the 'great American poem'. As Simon begins his controversial ascent to Nobel Prize winning poet, Henry sinks to a life of drinking in bars. The friends fall out and lose touch until Henry's criminal past catches up with him and he needs Simon's help to flee the country.

5 / 10 8 / 10 6 / 10 Well, it's not a boy movie! I admit, I spent the first 15 minutes trying to dislike the film but just couldn't, as I stayed with it. My take is that it is essentially a wry parody of modern literary achievement - or maybe not. The title character reminded me of the guy you had to run into in college if he decided you were a fellow loner and a good listener. Very good acting all around.
Oh, and Liam Aiken is a total little charmer. :-) He appears in only the last 25 minutes of a 136 minute film.
