Biography
Matija Barl is remembered as the eponymous hero in "Kekec" (1951), a role he won in competition with more than 1000 little Slovenians who auditioned for the part! Acting on Radio Ljubljana followed, and at the age of 14 he was working as an announcer and presenter. He went on to study at the Ljubljana Dramatic Academy before moving at the age of 22 to West Germany where he became a freelance producer and assistant director. Privately, his real passion was for piloting aircraft.
