Biography
Born as John Bailey, John often took the name of Jonathan for his screen roles, since there was already an established actor by the name of 'John Bailey' when he began acting. As with so many juvenile actors, John found that his career didn't survive his teenage years. However, he regarded this as no great loss, for, at the age of 14, he discovered his real passion in life when he joined the Air Training Corps as a cadet and learned to be a pilot. At 17, he joined the Royal Air Force. John was posted to Aden as part of the Middle East Command Photographic Unit during the Aden Emergency, which began with an uprising against British colonial rule in 1963, and ended with the withdrawal of British forces three years later. In 1968 John emigrated to Canada, where he served in the Toronto Police Force for several years, before working for the Canadian Defense Forces.
