My Movie Rating: 8 / 10 A sprawling adaptation for television with a fine performance from Patrick Day as Huckleberry. Patrick is the right age to play Huck appearing a little older than Tom Sawyer (Eugene Oakes). Also of note was good looking Jack Reidelberger as Buck Grangerford, a young tragedy of the family feud. At three and a half hours long this version is a feast of sheer indulgence for the boy film appreciator.
My Movie Rating:
7 / 10 6 / 10 The most complete adaptation of the original artwork by Mark Twain. The movie sticks to the novel painstakingly (as Twain would have said). There's only the scene with the houseboat missing I think, where Jim realized the dead corpse inside being Huck's father, and also the scene where the duke and the king fool the family by pretending being the English relatives of a dead man is left out, if my memory doesn't fool me. The two boys, especially Patrick Day as Huck, are doing a wonderful job as they revive two of the most famous characters in literature.
