For a US remake, surprisingly good, though not nearly as good as the original. Though it follows the original almost shot for shot for much of the time, it has a very different take on a key plot element. It's interesting to compare and contrast the two movies.
My Movie Rating: 8 / 10Exceeeelent movie. My favorite type of movie.Kodi is excellent.
My Movie Rating: 10 / 10Like many others here, I didn't really have much "hope" for an American remake, but they were quite faithful to the original, and Kodi did an amazing job.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10I didn't think this was quite as good as the original movie, but it's pretty good for an American remake. Kodi Smit-McPhee is amazing and I could just watch him forever.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10I've seen both films, i like them both equally!
My Movie Rating: 10 / 10I liked this movie better than the original. Kodi's performance is absolutely brilliant.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10Great acting from Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloe Moretz. Kodi plays Owen with such intensity of acting he could be BA Oscar nominated. As only to be expected from puritan USA, Kodi didn't parade around his bedroom in quite the same stylish undies as his Swedish counterpart. Even when doing his weight lifting he had to wear a T-shirt!
However, the interaction between the vampire girl and Owen was played out wonderfully. The director did wonders getting the atmosphere right between them. The bullies were depicted as typical up to when they have Owen in the pool. For a group of boys to push a kid underwater for three minutes is not bullying it's murder. You still had the nagging worry that Owen was going to end up another 'father' to the girl. It's a true saying that familiarity breeds contempt.
An accomplished film if only lacking slightly the horror of the Swedish 'Let The Right One In'.

I like Kodi. He is a great actor and he did quite well in this film. But overall I feel the Swedish film is much better.
