Lost in Space (1965-1968)

The first season of this series was a lot of fun, however the show deteoriated with a lack of realistic ideas and appeared to be confined to unimaginative studio sets and outrageously campy acting from Jonathan Harris. If you can get hold of the first season Billy Mumy is a treat as Will.

My rating: Seasion One 9/10, Season two 7/10, Season three 5/10.

Mad Hot Ballroom (2005)

Pretty good, but I found it a little difficult identifying many of the kids and which group they belonged to. IMO the film would have been easier to follow if it had concentrated on one group at a time rather than going back and forth between the groups all the time. Wilson was my favourite, beautiful smile, excellent poise... a natural dancer.

My Brother Talks to Horses (1947)

If you don't expect a lot from this movie and don't question some of the logic it is a enjoyable little yarn. The charming, befreckled, Butch Jenkins gets plenty of screen time and is always interesting to watch. Set in the days when kids and dogs were free to roam the streets.

My Family and Other Animals (2005)

I read the book many years ago and I also remember the TV series in 1987 with a lot of fondness, so I was expecting a lot from this movie. I found it to be a little disapointing. Rather too much slapstick style comedy for my taste, and the music soundtrack was very noisy and intrusive. It's not bad though, and I'm sure newbies to this story will find it enchanting. Eugene Simon does very well as the young Gerald Durrell in what is essentially the central character in this rather too short version.
