In 1971, air-conditioner repairman and boat enthusiast Jim McCormick entertains his desire to 'go down' as a legend in the record books when the Gold Cup hydroplane boat race improbably comes to his small town of Madison, Indiana. Immediately, Jim seizes his opportunity to enter the contest. 10/10 for Jake! I love him in this movie, he is SO cute! he has a fair amount of screen time. I' m a sucker for boys in Polo T's, and he wears one in a few scenes. I can also relate to his character in the scenes where he was bullied by McMain's Character, thats just the kind of bullying I endured in school. To make a correction to the synopsis, Jim McCormick had been a Speed boat driver in is earlier years, but had a crash in a race, and almost didn't survive, then gave up driving an became the head mechanic. The Hydro-Plane boat was actually owned by the town of Madison, Indiana, ie. "The Miss Madison" Jim McCormick stepped up as the driver only after the the town lost their last driver, and was in danger of not being in the race. I'm sure you've gathered by now, that this movie is based on a true story, it's about Jim McCormick and the town the of Madison, Indiana! That's all I'm going to say about the movie because I don't want to reveal too much, It's well worth a look, if for nothing else, for the adorable Jake Lloyd, for the grown-up actors, Jim Caveasel was outstanding.

Good but slow moving at times. Jake does much better than he did in Star Wars.
