Eban and Charley
Charley is turning 15. For the past year, since his mother's death, he has lived in Seaside, Oregon, with his stern and un-loving father. It's Christmas week when Charley meets Eban, a young-looking 29-year-old teacher from Seattle, home for the holidays to see his parents. They have things in common: both sign (Charley's mother was deaf), both play the guitar. As their relationship deepens during walks on the beach, singing, and talk of poetry, we see it from their point of view and also from the points of view of both of their fathers. Charley's loneliness gives way to happiness when he's with Eban. But what of this grown man?

Full of heart, well-intentioned and apparently based on a true story, but...just not a very good film. The acting is rather wooden, the dialogue is weak and the whole thing is quite clumsily done. Nonetheless worth a look, but if this one is of interest, try The Consequence as well: it's much better. My Movie Rating: 5 / 10
Young Charley knows exactly what he wants: he wants to be with Eban forever. And although Eban is in love with his young friend, he hesitates. This film is about the intolerance towards paedophilia in the United States. When both his own father and Charley's dad threaten to get the police involved, the two lovers finally come to a decision. My Movie Rating: 9 / 10
