Synopsis
In late 1906, Amy Grey and her little brother Cosmo have not seen their parents for many years, their father being a doctor who has been in Panama during work on the Panama Canal. Their housekeeper sends them to see the play Peter Pan, but by mistake they end up seeing a lurid family melodrama instead. As a result, Amy thinks that her eyes have been opened to "the seamier side" of life. When the children's parents return, and Amy overhears her mother receive an invitation to meet family friend Dr. Steven Clark, she falsely assumes that they are having a romantic tryst, and enlists Cosmo's help in exposing her mother's fictitious "affair".
