3 / 10 What EXACTLY was the point of this film? Were we supposed to CHEER when Mr. Lewis repeatedly punches the boy's father in the face? If I were as much a CYNIC as my illustrious ancient namesake I might suspect that the whole purpose of this movie was to present the 'welfare services', the law and the judiciary in a benign light. None of it was very believable. And the whole thing is capped by some sanctimonious tripe about the grown-up son 'forgiving' his father. Lord, give me strength! The 'acting' oscillated between lamentable and cringe-worthy, before settling down to moderately embarrassing.

1 / 10 Ropy acting and the whole set-up is difficult to believe -- an adult and a child alone in a room with the door shut in an elementary school, in this day and age? a teacher speaking directly to a neglectful parent in such a confrontational manner rather than calling social services, in this day and age? the lawyers facing off like that? H'rmm. Thomas Vinterberg's The Hunt is a way better treatment of the same topic.
