Simon sagt 'Auf Wiedersehen' zu seiner Vorhaut
(2015)
Country: Germany
Genre: Comedy
Synopsis
Since the recent divorce of his parents, Simon's life has been like a ping pong ball, as he travels back and forth to live with his mom and dad. Complicating matters, the family is religiously divided. Newly-observant father desperately insists that his squeamish son sacrifice his foreskin before his Bar Mitzvah, while liberal-minded mom Hannah is fed up with the pious posturing of her ex-husband. Meantime, Simon falls head over heels in love with the new female rabbi, who is unfortunately twenty years his senior. With the Machiavellian scheming of his friends, a rivalry to win her heart fuels a family feud.

Viviane Andereggen, who grew up in Hungary and Switzerland and studied film with Wim Wenders, presents the story of a Liberal/Reform/Progressive Jewish lad living in Hamburg. Fast-paced, warm, funny and assured. Would make a good dual watch with Inxeba.
My Movie Rating: 9 / 10
