Synopsis
Alcoholic Bill Cannon's past sins catch up with him in Chicago Calling. His daughter has been seriously injured in an accident out of town and he won't be able to take the call to find out her condition, because his phone has been shut off for nonpayment. The kindness of strangers and the support of a young friend motivate Cannon to not give up hope while he tries to raise the money to regain his phone service in time.
